New TenU President: Paul Van Dun from KU Leuven
Paul Van Dun, General Manager of KU Leuven Research & Development (LRD), will be the new president of TenU until the end of 2023. Paul takes over from Anne Lane, CEO of UCL’s technology transfer company UCLB.
TenU is an international collaboration formed to capture effective practices in research commercialisation and share these with governments and higher education communities. Its members work together to increase the societal impact of research. TenU members are the technology transfer offices of the University of Cambridge, Columbia University, University of Edinburgh, Imperial College London, KU Leuven, University of Manchester, MIT, University of Oxford, Stanford University, and UCL.
The president is TenU's representative on all policy matters and leads the way for all of TenU's activities. Through a fantastic program of events, TenU fosters collaborations between all those involved in the translation of university research into successful business and IP to tackle today’s and tomorrow’s global challenges.
Paul added: “TenU supports sharing best practices in tech transfer through a wide range of activities, stimulating in this way the valorisation of research results. The recent launch of the USIT Guide is but one of many successful examples. The Guide provides a set of recommendations on how to create spin-offs efficiently and was compiled together with several stakeholders. I’m looking forward to the upcoming period, in which I’ll seize the opportunity of the presidency to further strengthen TenU’s activities. Building on the good work of Anne of course, and in close collaboration with the other members and the team of professionals behind TenU!”
Each TenU presidency lasts six months, offering all of TenU’s members the opportunity to take the helm of the busy organisation. Paul takes over form Anne Lane, who acted as interim president in the last term to provide cover during the leave of absence of Andy Wilkinson, CEO of University of Manchester Innovation Factory.
Thank you to outgoing presidents Andrew Wilkinson and Anne Lane, who oversaw the launch of the USIT Guide, a series of in-person meetings held with all of the TenU members in London and Manchester and the launch of TenU’s event on operational issues, TenU OS.
